I am a 5.5 year old, Neutered Male, Pit Bull Mix.
Hi everybody, Brick here. 🧱
I came to the shelter as a stray on 11/27/2020 and was never reclaimed. My ears were eaten up by flies and very scarred. I was also very heartworm positive, which means I probably lived a life solely outside. Then I also found out I was blind in one eye, phew I came with a lot of baggage. I went through heartworm treatment and am a healthy big boy.
I started coming out of my shell and showing off my goofy personality. I am a people lover! I love everyone I meet and want to shower them with love, and maybe some slobber. Unfortunately, I believe I’m still here because I have to be the only animal in the household. I’m just not a fan of other dogs and that’s okay. I can walk at a safe distance by them and be focused on my handler. Did I also tell you that I’m a great walker? I’ve come a long way! I used to pull people down the street! And now I enjoy my leisurely walks, and walk best on a slip lead or prong collar. I am grateful to come to the shelter because they showed me how to dog. I love to play in the pool, run around, and roll in the grass.
My favorite part of the week is enrichment time. I get to use my big brain to find hidden treats in puzzles, I get it super fast they can’t trick me. I have a medium energy level and once I’m in a home, I’d probably become a big cuddle bug.
What do I need in an owner? Glad you asked. I’d be a great fit for an experienced, dog savvy owner. Someone that will advocate for me, protect me, and be firm with me. I’m unfortunately not a dog that you can take to a dog park (bad idea for dogs either way) but I am a dog you can take to Evo! I love French fries and a medium rare cheeseburger. If you’re looking for your one and only loyal companion, come look for me Brick! I’ll be patiently waiting for ya. Brick weighs 60 lbs.
