Lost & Found
If you find a pet, please take it to our shelter, a vet’s office, or Pets ER to have it scanned for a microchip. If you cannot find an owner, we recommend you bring the animal to our shelter. If you wish to hold on to the animal while searching for the owner, you must file a Found Report for either “Dog” or “Cat” below, post on all local lost and found pages on Facebook, and hold on to the found animal for at least 30 days. Please attach photos of the pet in the Found Report.
We cannot accept any animal found outside of Wicomico County.
If you have lost your pet, file a Lost Report immediately. Click on either “Dog” or “Cat” below to file the report. If you lost a bird, rabbit, or other animal, complete the Cat report. You can attach any photos you may have of your pet in the Lost Report. Scroll down to view lost animals currently at HSWC.

CLAIM OUT FEES: If your pet is here, the claim-out fee is $50 (includes microchipping) and $15/day for board. Please be aware that you will need to pay by cash or credit/debit card as we do not accept checks for claim-outs. Claim-out fees are increased for animals that have been at the shelter previously. You will need to provide proof of ownership and current rabies vaccination. This may be items such as photos, vet records, etc.
Animals may be reclaimed at anytime during our normal business hours.
Animal Control may have citations that will need to be signed. Once the citations are issued these are handled by the Court System. Staff is not able to answer legal questions regarding defense of citations, you will need to consult an attorney.
The Humane Society offers microchipping services to reunite lost pets with their owners. To schedule an appointment, call 410-749-7603.
