Resources
We urge everyone to take their pet for regular visits to the veterinarian. HSWC does not have a wellness clinic. Our staff veterinarian cannot consult with you in the event of illness to your pet. If you have an emergency outside of normal vet office hours, contact Pet’s ER.
Food Bank
If you need assistance feeding your pet, we have a Food Bank for residents of Wicomico County. Our bank includes various brands of dry dog and cat food, kitty litter, and sometimes small animal food. To sign up, we require you submit this form (hyperlink) and provide a rabies certificate for each animal you need food for. Please call with your needs before you come so we can have your items available for you upon arrival.
Spay/Neuter
If you are in urgent need to get your animal spayed or neutered or your pet is above our weight limit, contact Spay Now! They also provide various low-cost surgical and dental procedures.
Pet Loss Support Group
Talbot County Humane Society offers a Pet Loss Support Group for grieving pet owners.
Moving With Your Pet
The most common reason people surrender their pets is because they’re moving. We have compiled a list of pet friendly apartments for single families, students, and seniors in Wicomico County. Please contact their offices to inquire about policies, breed restrictions, deposits, etc.

Sometimes private landlords will accept pets on a case by case basis. An idea to sway a landlord into allowing your pet is creating a “Pet Resume” for each of your pets. Click here to learn how to create a Pet Resume.
