Do you have room in your heart to give a special needs dog their second chance at life? Kiern is a special girl who really deserves to find her happily ever after. She is just the sweetest, but she has been through so much in life already. There’s no telling how long (months, years?) she was wandering around in pain before we finally got to her.
Kiern came to us with a prior chronic injury to her left front leg. We think she had some nerve damage in that front leg that caused her to stop using the affected limb, and it caused muscle wasting from the shoulder. Our wonderful veterinarian, Dr. Mahan, amputated her leg in August and she has since healed up amazingly.
Even though she only has 3 legs, she doesn’t let that hold her back and still gets around just fine. Kiern is such a sweet dog that loves her people and gets so excited to go on adventures out and about. She’s an amazing car rider – even though she’d rather just cuddle you and lay on your lap the whole time. Kiern might be a little too interested/playful with cats and seems a bit dog selective, but life has also been very overwhelming for her and with slow intros to others, she could potentially have a doggy sibling. (Although she says she’s been through so much she’d really just love to be queen of the castle).
Sweet Kiern says all she wants is to be loved. She’s a giant cuddlebug that would love someone to spoil her like she deserves. Kiern loves her people, stuffed animals, and belly rubs and wants to find her forever version of that. Although she does well with children, she can sometimes be a resource guarder with her bones and for that reason we don’t recommend her to a home with young children. If you’d like to meet this sweetheart and let her playful personality and adorable cuddles steal your heart, then come on out and get to know her! She is currently around 50 pounds.
