I am a 5 year old, Spayed Female, American Pit Bull Mix.

Rizzabella, AKA Rizzy, is a beautiful and loving girl. She is a perfect compact size, 54 pounds. Medium low energy. She has won the hearts of volunteers.
She is shy with new people at first and will not open up instantly.
She needs to go on one walk with you before she will trust you.
She has been raised in a rather explosive and reactive home lacking in love and stability.
Once she knows you, she is so excited to see you and loves with her whole heart.
👀Up until 6 months ago she lived with a very painful eye condition where her eyelashes were turned under scratching her eyes every day. Minor surgery has fixed them, and she has healed so well. 😎
🐶She previously lived in the same home with another large dog. We are not sure how much interaction they had. She is not fond of dogs in her face except Bryson her true love. She walks by his kennel and will ALWAYS look in to see if he’s looking at her as she walks by. You can actually see her give him a wink with her pretty new eyes. She may be fine with a calm doggy neighbor but living in the same home might be too much for her.
She seems to be apprehensive about cars. Her bff Terza is working with her. They sit together in her car and talk about life (trying to get cars to be a good place for her).

The first 2-3 weeks after Rizzy is adopted will need to be quiet and slow.
💜She will not be a dog that will do well with lots of people in the house.
💜She was crate trained but will need to review potty training as she does not get out when she needs to know.
💜She is not going to be a dog you can take to the boardwalk or PetSmart the day you adopt her.
“Go slow” will mean just you and Rizzy in your home for two weeks showing her the routine: the sounds and smells of the new home. No strangers, no family coming to visit. No neighbors dropping by to meet her. She will need to figure out her new life. “Go slow” will mean let her open up to you in HER time. This cannot be rushed. She has been through a trauma.
💜She needs a patient person to help her heal. Once she has, she will open up into a wonderful companion.
💜She is not a dog that will thrive in a home with loud noises, loud voices or things being abruptly introduced to her.
💜She needs quiet, calm, consistent and a loving even tempered person.
💜She needs her person to understand what she has been through and go slowly toward recovery.
💜Basic obedience training will help her gain confidence and conquer her fears.

Have you been through a hard time? Maybe she is just what you need. Maybe you will understand her, and she will help you heal as well. She has a beautiful gentle soul and will shine in the right environment. Maybe yours? You will wonder how you ever lived life without her. Please come and visit her several times to put her at ease. She deserves a kind loving person who will always be there for her and value her life. She is a very special girl💜
