Trooper 63431

Date Available for Adoption: 01-26-2024

Date Adopted: 02-20-24

I am a 2 year old, Neutered Male, Pit Bull Mix.

Trooper is one of the rising stars at HSWC. He has touched all of our hearts. His story has reached the community who has been saddened by story.
Abandoned just after having ear cropping surgery.
Dumped near the Humane society. He is a Beautiful golden light brown color like warm sunshine on a cold winter’s day. This handsome boy will warm you up with his easy-going personality. He’s gentle and kind.
75 pounds healthy and handsome. He’s still a bit sensitive about things going over his head.
He seems confused about why he is here. More than most, he’s been through a lot. He endured a painful surgery and was then dumped by his own people. When you look into his eyes you see how lost he is right now. He enjoys spending time on walks with volunteers. He is a favorite of the kennel staff. He stands at his kennel door as if he is not real sure what he should do. We try to tell him he’s in a good place. We are thankful he had the good sense to seek help from the Maryland State Troopers who discovered him. He has been a gentleman during his time with us at HSWC. We hope to get him into a nice home very soon with a patient family who will give him time to adjust to a new life. Trooper will need his own space. We recommend giving him a crate in a quiet space, so he can decompress and have a slow introduction to your family routine. He will be overwhelmed. He will benefit from structure and training, so that he knows who the leader is. Once he knows the leader, he will respond well and know what is expected and where he fits in. Some dogs can be just fine and adapt well with few boundaries. Dogs that have been through a lot of changes in a short period of time like Trooper need quiet, structure and a leader. Please give Trooper a chance to be his best self. This gentle boy deserves the best we can give him.
