Vanessa has had a rough start here at the shelter. Her and a newborn kitten came in wet and frozen. Her kitten did not make it but after a few weeks of care she finally started to feel better. She is super grateful and shows affection when you go in and pet her. She is hoping for a family that will keep her inside and give her all the love and attention she deserves. Please stop in and say hello if you are looking for a sweet little girl.
Vanessa is FIV+ but it’s really no big deal! It can lower her immune system, but when she is kept inside (as required anyway) and has regular checkups, she can live a long and normal life, and you would never know the wiser.
The risk of transmission between friendly household cats is low, so she can even go to a home with FIV- cats. It’s only transmissible through deep bite wounds (our office cat, Sir Lancelot has FIV and none of our other office cats do). Maybe you’d even consider adopting another FIV+ cat of ours to give her a buddy!
